Born in Kazakhstan in 1972, Yerlan Syzdykov studied at Novosibirsk State University, specialising in economic cybernetics. As senior portfolio manager at Pioneer for emerging market fixed income, he has shifted his investment style from a benchmark-tilted style to an absolute return investment approach. He incorporates a top-down view into the portfolio with use of both cash and derivatives to manage duration and hedging. Outside of fund management, Yerlan enjoys football, skiing, chess and music.
Bond fund aimed at the significant growth of the invested capital, seizing the opportunities present in the money and bond markets of emerging countries and in the developing world. The Fund's portfolio is primarily invested in bond and money market instruments of issuers in emerging markets. The investment is mainly in corporate issuers and the remainder in government issuers and international organizations/ government agencies. Mainly invests in securities that are not investment grade or unrated. The average duration is approximately equal to 5 years. Financial instruments are denominated mainly in currencies of Emerging Countries, US Dollars and Euros.
